Skyloft

Hey All!
Last summer I was able to release my biggest project yet! I've recreated Skyloft for the latest video of the Virtual Video Game Orchestra in the Unreal Engine.
Every object was recreated from scratch, and it took about 6 months to go from nothing to the fully animated video.

I had to overcome a lot of hurdles for this project, Like that I had never worked with ZBrush before, and before I knew, I was creating mountain pieces to create this beautifull flying island. Had created a lot of different tools in blueprint to make my life easier. From the different colored flags, that change color with every new flag added, to a tool that creates wooden fences so I could quickly add those to the world. My biggest win for me was the waterfall, I have basicly no experience with Niagra, and I'm so proud of the end result!

I'm really happy with the end result, I couldn't have wished for more!

I need to give a shout out to these three wonderfull artists.
Joyce Uijtdehaage, because of the beautifull Goddess Statue that she has created

Rosa van Wouwe, for her beautifull recreation of the Bazaar and some other things around the scene.

Nella Siedlińska also known as Neshirys, for her illustrations and Logo design at the start of the Video

I really couldn't have done it without them! Thank you so much!

Please let me know what you think of this production!

With Substance Designer I created leaves that were then used to create a few plants in the scene.

With dithering and Zdepth in my materials I created a nice blend between my main floor and all the objectes that formed the main terrain.

My Wooden Fence Tool

With my tools I can easily add a whole orchestra.

Since the screens use a giant texture. We needed to make a layout of where all the musicians should be placed First. Based on that I could set up a texture layout, which then could be created in Premiere

To keep track of which screen is what. I added a debug button in my tool. This way I can easily check if the right musician is in the right spot.

My other Tool translates 16x9 layouts created in premiere to Unreal. All the frames get automaticly created from one 1x1 frame design.
